Senior Spotlight- Karson Quale

Karson Quale is the son of Jes & Tony Hanssen and Mike & Daisha Quale. He has six siblings; Lily, Johnny, Charles, Ean, Grey, and Indi. His favorite thing to do with his family is travel together. Karson’s dad is the person he admires the most because his work ethic and sense of humor are admirable. His pet peeves are people who scrape their silverware on their plates or bite down on it or people who touch you for no reason. Karson has worked at Hefty Seed Company for four years, building offices and pouring concrete.

The accomplishments that Karson is the proudest of are his junior and senior year ACT, Smarter Balanced, ASVAB, & NCRC test scores. If he could travel to one place in the whole world, he would travel to Europe because they have an interesting culture. The three things that Karson wants to accomplish in his lifetime are graduating college with a master’s degree, getting married and starting a family, and moving somewhere interesting. In 10 years, Karson sees himself working as an engineer somewhere in another state.

Karson has been involved in basketball and FFA for four years, cross country for one year, and track for three years. Basketball was his favorite extracurricular because it is his favorite sport. His favorite memory from PK-11th grade was going to the National FFA Convention with Jackson and Dawson. His favorite memory from his senior year was when his classmate spilled paint on the playground and then poured a bucket of water on it, which spread it around, and then they spilled paint thinner in the halls trying to clean up the mess. Mr. McKenney was his favorite teacher because he made Karson passionate about chemistry. Organic Chemistry was his favorite class, because there were only four people in the class and he really enjoys chemistry. The most valuable lesson Karson has learned from a coach or teacher was that the most important thing you can do in life is be involved in your community, vote in elections, and volunteer your time.

If Karson could do one thing differently in his high school career, he would have behaved better in class. His most challenging task as a senior has been balancing his time to get all his work done, while still having time to hang out with friends. After he graduates, he is going to miss hanging out with his classmates every day. The advice Karson would give to underclassmen is to keep up with your work and take dual credits.

Karson plans to attend UND for Chemical Engineering.
