He doesn’t have any bad habits, he says laughing. Three words that he uses to describe himself are kind, handsome, & responsible. One of his greatest accomplishments is becoming unparalyzed and beating cancer, and his most valued possession is his autographed Dan Marino jersey he was given when he got to meet Dan and spend some time with him, which meant to world to Auston.
Auston Ehrmantraut is our first 2024 Senior Spotlight Student. Auston is the son of Kaye Ehrmantraut and Doug Ehrmantraut. He has three siblings, Thomas, George, and Alexis. He likes spending time with his dad fishing and hunting. In 10 years he sees himself being the head chef in a kitchen, which isn’t surprising beings he has worked at Norby’s for four years where he has been cooking, stocking the kitchen, doing the dishes, and helping wherever he can.
In his lifetime, Auston would like to travel around the world, get married, have kids, and meet one of his favorite bands. If he had one wish he would wish for $50 million dollars! He would like to travel to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower and learn how to make French food. He loves steak but really dislikes potato salad! In his free time, he likes to game out on his Xbox with his buddies.
Auston has enjoyed his time at Colman-Egan, even though some days he couldn’t wait to graduate! He has been involved in FCCLA for four years. He enjoyed all the fun things they did in groups, especially going to the state convention. The most valuable lesson Auston learned in school was to just be himself and not let others bother him. Nutrition & Wellness was Auston’s favorite class because he got to make lots of good food and learn about foods from around the world. His favorite teacher is Mr. Williamson, he says, “He has always been one of the first to check on me through my medical stuff and I really enjoy having conversations with him.” After he graduates Auston says that he will miss talking about football with Mr. Williamson.
Auston’s favorite memory throughout school was playing football and kickball at recess in elementary school. His favorite memory from his senior year is Homecoming Week. He enjoyed all the fun games and activities and he really enjoyed being part of the Homecoming Court. His most challenging task as a senior has been filling out scholarships and debating what to say on them! If Auston could do one thing differently in high school he said he would have gone to more games to show his school spirit. His advice to underclassmen is, “Work hard your first 3 years and your senior year will be a breeze.”
Auston plans on going to Mitchell Technical College for Culinary School.
