Senior Spotlight- Jenna Olson

Jenna Olson is the daughter of Curtis and Ronda Olson. She has an older sister, Allison. Her favorite family activities are going with her dad to put bales out for the calves and going disc golfing at the campgrounds in the summer. One place Jenna wants to travel to is Denmark and Norway as her family is from there. Something most people don’t know about Jenna is that she is the youngest of all her cousins.

One wish that she has is to skip college, start teaching, and live on her farm. Three words that Jenna uses to describe herself are responsible, caring, and slow. Potatoes are her favorite food and pickled herring is her least favorite. She has worked at Subway since March of 2022, and her duty is to make food and clean up. Her most valued possessions are her car and her dad’s pickups. She is most proud of making it to All-State Band three years and choir two years. In ten years, she sees herself living on a little acreage with a teaching job. Three things she wants to accomplish in her life are to have a family, get a job she enjoys, and not die with debt.

During school, Jenna was involved in one act play, spring play, band, and choir for four years, NHS for 3 years, and Oral Interp for 1 year. Spring play was her favorite out of school activity and her favorite in school activity is band, which has always been her passion. Her favorite memory from school was the first year they got to go bowling on the last day of school. Her favorite elementary teacher was Mrs. Thompson because she is so caring. Her favorite high school teacher was Mr. Deutsch because he always knew how to teach about difficult things in the world in a way the class could understand. Her favorite memory from senior year was homecoming because they finally won events!

Jenna's favorite classes were band, of course, and Miss Dockter’s classes because she taught the class and was able to stay interested in their lives. The most challenging task as a senior has been finding the motivation to do homework and filling out scholarship applications. The most valuable lesson she learned from a teacher was, “it’s just human nature”. The little things are going to happen and it won’t ruin your life.

If she could do one thing differently in her high school career, it would be to not care about what people think. Advice she would give to underclassmen is, don’t waste your time worrying about what people think and just do your stuff on time. The things she will miss the most after she graduates are all the pep band nights and homecoming weeks.

Jenna plans to double major in Music and Elementary Education.
